5 sources of inspiration from Jim Rohn that will help change your life

I listened to a great audio track on youtube recently from Jim Rohn on how to keep yourself inspired and successful through life.

Here are some notes I took from this 30 minute or so talk. I think this a great resource to come back to as a reminder.

The five sources of inspiration as follows from Jim Rohn:

  1. Decide

    • Today is the day I now will do this. I’ve now got a reason to do this. It’s powerful

    • Starts the process of lifting self esteem. This is equally as satisfying as the achieving stage

    • Don’t postpone, all the energy and source of inspiration will dissipate.

    • Indecision is the thief of opportunity

  2. Plan

    • Start to making thoughts and dreams real, bring them to life

    • Source of inspiration for only so long

    • Plan , plan , plan only for a short while, otherwise inspiration will run out

  3. Begin

    • Turning plans into action, getting started

    • Think internally “I’m on a new track, I’m on my way”

    • Get the first customer, read the first book, take the first course

    • Beginning only lasts so long

  4. Progress

    • Get the 2nd customer, get the second book, get the third book

    • Jog/run around the block the second week, the third week

    • Self esteem will be so high. Never look back on the old ways

    • “Unhappiness is the lack of progress towards a preset goal”

    • “Making progressive progress is the key to happiness”

  5. Achievement

    • Finally the time passes and you have it

    • Not much more inspiring that when you decided

    • Different kind of inspiration, because now you are thinking about the next step/goals that you want to achieve.

    • All of these phases could be happening at the same time, you could be deciding and beginning at the same time with something and achieving and deciding with something else. All in a single day. Simultaneous making progress in one area and achieving in another

    • ‘As we inspire, we become inspired by others”. As we teach, we learn. We learn what to say and what not to say. By helping others to change, we help to change ourselves

    • We progress by creating progress for others. By helping them to succeed, we succeed. We become happy by creating happiness for others
